: Of all the subjects taught in school, handwriting is one of the most important because it gives kids a core skill they will use for the rest of their lives. Even in these days when kids are growing up using a keyboard and mouse, the old traditional handwriting skills are still just as important as ever. When choosing a curriculum, teachers should consider the different handwriting styles. Most of us are familiar with learning two styles, manuscript and cursive. However, starting with manuscript creates a problem later on as kids have to make the transition from manuscript to cursive. A newer alternative approach, called D'nealian, combines elements from cursive and manuscript into a new style, which is somewhere in between the two. A key benefit of using the D'nealian approach is it makes the transition to cursive much easier. We offer a great selection of handwriting curriculum materials and practice workbooks.
