Most orders leave our warehouse within one business day, unless the items you ordered are back-ordered. The delivery time after it leaves our warehouse depends on the delivery method you select. All delivery methods available for your order are displayed when you click the drop-down list on our checkout page. The lowest cost methods appear at the top of the list. Here is some information to help you select the method that's best for you.

UPS Ground: This service offers guaranteed delivery within one week at a great value. If your package is not delivered by 5:00 PM on the 7th business day from the date that it ships (not necessarily from the date your order is placed), your shipping costs will be refunded to you 100%. Most orders ship within one business day. However, orders placed after noon will be shipped the next business day. Orders for items not in stock will ship when the item becomes available to ship. Delivery times are not guaranteed during the Christmas season. Packages are handled by
UPS all the way from our warehouse to your address.
Tracking: The package is tracked by the carrier all the way from
beginning to end and at every point in between. If your package has already
shipped, you can track shipments on the carrier's website at
UPS. From the time the package leaves our warehouse, it takes about 12 hours before it is trackable online. Your tracking number is automatically emailed to you the same day your order ships.
All shipment tracking numbers are also available on our website
by logging into your account and checking your order status. Benefits: The benefits of using Ground
delivery is that your delivery time is guaranteed yet your shipping cost is much less than using express shipping like overnight or 2nd day. In many cases, packages are delivered in less than 7 business days. If no one answers at your address when
the carrier attempts to deliver your package, they will leave the package on your porch. This allows your package to get delivered faster. If you prefer to have the driver deliver only when someone is available to receive it, then just add that note to your order in the comments section on our checkout page. Please note delivery times are not guaranteed during the Christmas season.
Availability: This service is not available to Alaska or Hawaii. It is available to all of the remaining 48 US states. This service only delivers to street addresses, not to PO Boxes. There is no weight limit for orders shipped by Ground
delivery. Packages are picked up and delivered only on normal business days, not on weekends. If your delivery has to be there fast, but you do not want to pay extra for express delivery, then Ground is the best choice. If there are any problems with the delivery of your order, please contact us. We will resolve your problem and work with
the carrier to get your package delivered. Please do not contact the carrier directly. If your order has not been delivered within 10 business days, we will re-ship it to you at no extra cost.
UPS 3rd Day: This service offers guaranteed delivery by 5:00 PM on the
3rd business day at a great value. If your package is not delivered in 2 business days from the date that it ships (not necessarily from the date your order is placed), your shipping costs will be refunded to you 100%. Orders are guaranteed to ship within one business day as long as the items are in stock. However, orders placed after noon will be shipped the next business day. USPS Priority:
This is an economical alternative to UPS Ground. It is not always as fast as UPS
Ground but it is just about as reliable. We have had almost zero problems with
customers selecting this shipping method. Using the US Postal Service is scary
to some customers because of their reputation for poor service. However, all
USPS Priority shipments are fully automated so the system works right close to
100% of the time.
This shipping method is
available to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, US military bases with APO/FPO addresses
and the mainland US states whenever it is cheaper than other shipping methods. Tracking numbers are emailed to you the day your order ships. You can enter the tracking number at usps.com, but with US Postal shipments the tracking number only reports when the shipment is delivered and does not provide any tracking information while in transit because the package is not scanned at any distribution facilities. Delivery times are not guaranteed, but if your order has not been delivered within 4 weeks, we will re-ship it to you at no extra cost.
USPS Flat Rate Priority:
This is a great way to squeeze more value out of USPS Priority shipments. Flat
rate boxes maintain the same cost for as much as we can cram into the box. Of
course, we will cram it in there gently so nothing gets bent in the process.
This shipping method is only available for shipments to
the mainland US states, Alaska, Hawaii and to US military bases with APO/FPO addresses
whenever it is cheaper than other available shipping methods. Tracking numbers are emailed to you the day your order ships. You can enter the tracking number at usps.com, but with US Postal shipments the tracking number only reports when the shipment is delivered and does not provide any tracking information while in transit because the package is not scanned at any distribution facilities. Delivery times are not guaranteed, but if your order has not been delivered within 4 weeks, we will re-ship it to you at no extra cost.
USPS Parcel Post:
We have opted not to use this method very much because it costs almost the same
as USPS Priority but it can sometimes be a lot slower and more prone to human
errors because it is not a fully automated process. You won't see this shipping
option showing up on our website. We use this shipping method only used shipments of Estes Rocket Engines. This is the only shipping method allowed for these items.
If you order
Estes rocket engines, your order will ship USPS Parcel Post even if you select a different shipping method.
We will manually change your shipping method to USPS Parcel Post. Some Estes items do not include engines and this rule does not apply in those cases. Tracking numbers are emailed to you the day your order ships. You can enter the tracking number at usps.com, but with US Postal shipments the tracking number only reports when the shipment is delivered and does not provide any tracking information while in transit because the package is not scanned at any distribution facilities. Delivery times are not guaranteed, but if your order has not been delivered within 4 weeks, we will re-ship it to you at no extra cost.
USPS Media Mail:
This shipping method
offers a tremendous cost savings if you are not in a big hurry to get your
products. The USPS website claims they deliver anywhere in the US within 3 weeks
but we have seen it take 4 weeks even to areas that are not so far away.
Therefore, we offer this method with an estimated delivery time of 2-4 weeks. In
reality it often gets delivered in less than 2 weeks. For Alaska and Hawaii and
US territories, please note it could take another week or two on that of that,
so 4-6 weeks (ouch).
The USPS is
great with small packages but they are not the best with larger packages.
Therefore, we only offer this shipping method for orders up to 20 pounds. If
your order gets larger than 20 pounds in total combined weight for all items,
you will see this shipping method disappear from the list of available options.
So if you are hoping to have your order shipped using USPS Media Mail, please
keep an eye on the total weight, which is displayed on the shopping cart page.
However, there is another catch with using this method. It is called media mail
because it is only available for shipping books, software, videos and other
media. If you add other items to your shopping cart like toys, science kits,
math manipulative sets and games, this shipping method will not be available to
you.
The best thing
about media mail is the price. This is the absolute cheapest delivery method
available in the United States. What is really awesome about it the cost is the
same regardless of the distance the package travels. For our customers in
Alaska, Hawaii and all US territories, this is truly the way to go. Your
shipping cost drops to the same as we would charge to ship it 5 miles from us.
This is also a great solution for our heroes in the US military with APO, AE and
FPO addresses. Just remember to keep it under 20 pounds and only order books,
videos or software or you will be bumped up to USPS Priority, which costs double
or even more.

Shipping Calculator:
Easily calculate your
shipping costs before going through our checkout pages. First add items to your
shopping cart. Then on the view cart page, click the link to the shipping
calculator, which is located below the cart. Enter your destination zip code
then click the calculate button to see the shipping costs for various delivery
methods.
Shipping Costs and Weights:
Our website shopping cart calculates your shipping cost as soon as you add items to your
shopping cart. You will see the shipping costs displayed when
you click the drop down list next to the delivery methods shown
on our check out page. Costs are based on the total weight of your
order and your zip code destination.
Shipping costs already include the basic shipping rate plus all
fuel surcharges, delivery charges, insurance charges and
handling charges.
Please note
that the weight for each item is sometimes different from the actual weight.
The weight is calculated as the actual weight
for most items. However, large bulky items often have a dimensional weight which
is higher than the actual weight. The weight in our system is always based on
whichever is higher between the actual weight and dimensional weight because
that is exactly how the major carriers bill for shipping. We bill you using the
same methodology used by carriers like UPS when they calculate the shipping costs when
they bill us. Dimensional weight is calculated as (L x W x H) divided by 194.
This is not our formula, this is what all major carriers use to calculate their shipping costs.
Shipping Tracking Numbers:
Your shipment tracking number will be emailed to you the day
your order ships. Please be careful to enter your email address
correctly. If you do not see any email from us, please check
your junk mail folder. You might have to add us to your list of
approved email senders so our mail gets delivered to your inbox.
From the time your package leaves our warehouse, it takes about
12 hours before it can be tracked online. Your tracking number is automatically emailed to you the same day your order ships.

Shipping Policies:

DELIVERY METHOD FOR INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS:
All international orders (shipping to anywhere outside the
United States) ship by the US Postal Service.
Almost all international orders leave our warehouse within one
or two business days from the time we get your verbal approval
by telephone. Delivery times vary depending on the method you
select.
We offer two
options for delivery methods, either USPS Airborne Parcel or
USPS Global
Express. With USPS Airborne Parcels, orders are usually
delivered within 2 weeks, whereas USPS Global Express orders are
usually delivered within 1 week. Delivery time can take 30-40
days for orders shipping to US Military addresses overseas (APO
and FPO addresses). Delivery times are not guaranteed.
International orders (including APO and FPO addresses) not
delivered within 60 days will be re-shipped at our expense.
SHIPPING COSTS AND WEIGHTS:
Our website shopping cart calculates your shipping cost as soon as you add items to your
shopping cart. You will see the shipping costs as you go through
the check out pages. Costs are based on the total weight of your
order and your country destination.
Shipping costs already include the basic shipping rate plus all
fuel surcharges, delivery charges, insurance charges and
handling charges. For books, we use the actual weight. For
science kits and toys, we use the either the dimensional weight
or the actual weight, whichever is greater. We use dimensional
weight because our carriers use it to calculate

weight is used only for items which are larger in size but
lighter in weight. Typically this applies to science kits and
toys but does not apply to books. As a result, the weight shown
on our website shopping cart for those items is often larger

REQUIRED PHONE CONTACT
FOR INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS:
For international orders, we require telephone contact
before we can release your order to ship. We will call you at
the phone number you provided to us on your order to verify that
you placed the order.
SHIPMENT TRACKING NUMBERS:
Your shipment tracking number will be emailed to you the day
your order ships. All shipment tracking numbers are also
available on our website by following these steps:
1. Click the My Account tab at the top of this page.
2. Log into your Learning Things account using your email
address and password you created.
3. After logging in, click the 'Order Status' link, which will
appear in the right column under 'Services'.

DAMAGED SHIPMENTS:
All shipments are guaranteed to be delivered in
new condition. Shipments are insured so in case your

POLICIES FOR BACK ORDERED ITEMS ON INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS:
If your order includes any back ordered items, you will
automatically receive an email from us within one business day
to let you know that processing of one or more items on your
order number are being delayed due to back orders. The email
will tell you specifically which items are back ordered. If
items are back-ordered, they are usually available for shipping
within 1-2 weeks. We apologize for the inconvenience. We do our
best to keep all items in stock and avoid back orders as much as
possible. If you would like more specific details regarding the
estimated dates when your back ordered items are expected to
become available, please contact our customer service
department. We will respond within one business day. You can
also log into your account on our website to check the status of
your order.
Due to the cost of shipping international orders, we cannot
cover the additional cost of splitting your order into two
shipments. If you would like to have your order split so the
available items can ship first with the back ordered items
shipped later, please contact us so we can provide you with the
price for the additional shipping costs. If you agree to pay the
additional costs, we will split your order. Otherwise, the
entire order will be delayed until all items are in stock. |
