complete edition of World History and You, by Vivian Bernstein includes a
2-textbook soft cover set, with book1 and 2 together making a
complete school year curriculum. There is also a 48 page Teacher's Guide which can be purchased as part
of the complete set or purchased separately. Appropriate for
3rd - 4th grade students. This text
begins in ancient Egypt, the middle east, India, and China going back to the year 3750 BC
with the earliest recorded history. It ends with a look at the global economy of the
1990's.
Chapter content is kept short, 2 to 4 pages,
to help young learners stay involved. Each of the 47 chapters provides a highlight of
several key things to think about, several new vocabulary words introduced in that
chapter, and new people and places introduced. Each chapter includes a one page biography
called "People in History."
Students are required to keep a journal
notebook in which they will complete various writing assignments at the end of each
chapter. The following exercises are provided at the end of each chapter:
- Using Vocabulary - a fill in the blank
exercise
- Read and Remember - a finish the
paragraph exercise
- Journal Writing - Students write a few
sentences in their journal.
- Think and Apply - using critical
thinking skills
