| WISCONSIN HOMESCHOOL LAW Compulsory School Age: 6 - 18 (by September 1) Wisconsin state law offers one legal homeschooling option, which is to operate a "home-based private educational program." Parents wishing to school their children under this option must annually submit a statement of enrollment with the State Department of Public Instruction by October 15. Homeschool students are required to attend a minimum of 875 hours of instruction each year. State law does require that the following subjects be studied: reading, language arts, math, social studies, science, and health. However, the state has no authority to determine how the subjects are studied so as not to "conflict with the program's religious doctrines." There are no regulations requiring parent/teacher qualifications, recordkeeping, or testing for this option. Find a homeschool group in Wisconsin.
