| NEW JERSEY HOMESCHOOL LAW Compulsory School Age: 6 - 16 New Jersey state law offers one legal homeschooling option, which is to operate a homeschool. Children who school under this option must study subjects "academically equivalent" to those offered in public schools. This does not mean that curriculum must be the same as that offered in public schools; however, it does require that homeschool curriculum be of equal quality. There are no requirements regarding attendance, parent/teacher qualifications, school board notification, recordkeeping, or testing for homeschooling in New Jersey statutes.
