| ILLINOIS HOMESCHOOL LAW Compulsory School Age: 7 - 17 Illinois state law offers one legal homeschooling option. Parents who wish to homeschool may operate a homeschool as a private school. The state's attendance policy specifies 176 days per year, but this is not a legal requirement for children in private school or homeschool. Required subjects include language arts, biological and physical sciences, math, social studies, fine arts, and physical development.
