NEW
MEXICO HOMESCHOOL LAW
Compulsory
School Age: 5 - 18 (by September 1)
New Mexico
state law offers one legal homeschooling option, which is to establish
and operate a homeschool. An initial notice of intent must be
filed with the Secretary of Education within 30 days of the start of
homeschool and annually thereafter by April 1. Children schooling
under this option must attend 180 days of instruction and must study
reading, language arts, math, social studies, and science. Parents
must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent to be considered
qualified. The only records required to be kept for homeschool
students are immunization records. There are no testing
requirements.
