MINNESOTA HOMESCHOOL LAW
Compulsory
School Age: 7 -16
Minnesota
state law offers one legal homeschooling options, which is to establish
and operate a homeschool. A Non-Public Education Compulsory Report
must be submitted to the local school superintendent by October 1 of
each school year. Required subjects include reading, writing,
literature, fine arts, math, science, history, geography, government,
and health and physical education. The homeschool instructor must
meet one of the following qualification requirements:

hold a Minnesota
teaching license in the field and grade taught;

be directly
supervised by a licensed teacher;

successfully
complete a teacher's competency exam;

teach in a
school accredited by state-recognized accrediting agency; or
-
hold a
bachelor's degree.
Quarterly
reports must be submitted to the local school superintendent.
These reports should illustrate the child's achievement in the required
subjects. Children schooling under this option must participate in
standardized tests each year as agreed upon by the local superintendent.
There are no attendance requirements under this option.
