ARKANSAS HOMESCHOOL LAW
Compulsory
School Age: 5 - 17 (by September 15)
Arkansas
state law offers one legal homeschooling option, which is to
establish and operate a homeschool. Parents wishing to homeschool
should file a notice of intent with the local school superintendent in
accordance with the following dates:
-
No
later than August 15 for parents wishing to homeschool at the
beginning of the school year
-
No
later than December 15 for those starting homeschool in the spring
semester
-
14
calendar days prior to withdrawing mid-semester from the public
school
-
Within
30 calendar days of establishing residency within the district
This
written notice must be re-filed annually at the beginning of each school
year. There is a testing requirement for Arkansas homeschoolers;
homeschool students are required to take the same state-mandated tests
given to public school students in grades 3 - 9. There are no
other requirements concerning attendance, subjects, teacher
qualifications, or recordkeeping under the Arkansas homeschool statute.
