HISTORY HOMEWORK HELP

Ancient Worlds
A fun site with a wealth of resources for studying all the ancient civilizations including Rome, Greece, Babylon, Egypt, and more. Also includes an online chat center to discuss the ancient civilizations with other students.

British Museum of Ancient Egypt
This is a really cool looking site, divided into ten ‘chapters' which address themes or topics relevant to ancient Egypt. The ten ‘chapters' are presented on a menu page where the user can choose a chapter by clicking on the word or icon relating to that chapter. Within each ‘chapter' there are three sections: ‘Story', ‘Explore' and ‘Challenge'.

Castles and Palaces of Poland
Over the centuries, Polish kings and magnates erected numerous defensive castles and stately palaces. Turbulent history has reduced many of them into piles of rubble. Some of them, however, have been spared and today - carefully restored - enchant us with their beauty. At present, some of these buildings house government offices, colleges, etc. Others serve as museums.

Castles of Britain
Britain is strewn with ruins, rubble from the centuries of her existence. Ruined castles are tangible relics of a remarkable past, a lengthy heritage etched in stone, as well as with the blood and sweat of those who built, labored, fought, and died in their shadow. Ruins stir up in us a profound awareness of those past lives. Castles have a timelessness that is awe-inspiring.

Empires Past
An excellent research source covering four ancient empires: the Aztecs, China, Egypt, and Rome. For each empire, you'll find a study of the society, government, religion, arts, sciences, economy and agriculture, military, vocabulary, and architecture.

George Washington's Writings from the Original Manuscripts
Don't allow anyone to mislead you with their version of history, re-written to their liking. Go back to the original source to see for yourself what really happened. Read the original writings of George Washington from 1745 to 1799.

Hall of Presidents
Visit with all the Presidents of the United States with colorful biographies of each one.

Middle Ages
Medieval or The Middle Ages. We think of knights in shining armor, lavish banquets, wandering minstrels, kings, queens, bishops, monks, pilgrims, and glorious pageantry. In film and in literature, medieval life seems heroic, entertaining, and romantic. In reality, life in the Middle Ages, a period that extended from approximately the fifth century to the fifteenth century in Western Europe, was sometimes all these things, as well as harsh, uncertain, and often dangerous.

Renaissance
"Renaissance," French for "rebirth," perfectly describes the intellectual and economic changes that occurred in Europe from the fourteenth through the sixteenth centuries. During the era known by this name, Europe emerged from the economic stagnation of the Middle Ages and experienced a time of financial growth. Also, and perhaps most importantly, the Renaissance was an age in which artistic, social, scientific, and political thought turned in new directions. Join us as we explore the Renaissance and discover the forces that drove this rebirth in Europe, and in Italy in particular.
