Just Write and Writing for Me: The Just Write series is designed to help all students become confident, expressive writers. Exercises and activities encourage creativity and provide great ideas to help children express themselves. All Teacher's Guides include extension activities. Guides for books 1-3 also include answer keys.
The skills addressed in the Just Write series are basic punctuation, spelling, indenting, overused words, comparisons, point of view, writing dialogue, topic sentences, journal writing, editing and revising, characters, feelings, setting, conclusions, brainstorming, using your senses, story planning with webs and other graphic organizers, and description. Students are guided through the writing process from initial idea to final edited and published narrative. Throughout, they are given models to follow and are encouraged to be creative. The drawing activities in Write about Me and Write about My World help children bridge the gap between thinking and talking about an idea and writing about it.
