Kids Board Games
Research shows kids can live for at least two hours without video games, computers, televisions and cell phones. Few parents are aware of this fact so we are doing everything we can to get the word out. Research has further proven that kids can even have so much fun playing board games they can forget about those other distractions, at least for a little while.
Before television, before computers, before cell phones, there were kids board games. Classics like Monopoly and Scrabble have stood the test of time and continue to thrive along with newer games like Blokus, Box of Bunco, and Heximoes.
Besides having fun, kids enjoy many other benefits from playing board games. Kids interact with others, communicating and making eye contact with real humans while playing board games. In the process, they develop social skills, communication skills and cognitive skills. Some board games are designed with educational objectives in mind. Games are specially designed for supplemental learning for core subjects like math, grammar, spelling, history, science and reading. Other games are designed to develop reasoning and problem solving skills.
From the classic game of chess to “Settlers of Catan”, we offer educational board games as old as the hills or newly invented. We have brainy brain teasers and puzzlers, card games, geography games, memory games, and math games. With such a dazzling array of games to choose from, you are sure to find the perfect educational game you are looking for.
If you are interested in a beautiful set that is as satisfying to behold as it is to play, you might try browsing collectible chess sets or backgammon sets. For an elementary school child who needs a little extra practice for school, there are games for phonics, math, geography, grammar, and more. For many relaxing evenings of jigsaw enjoyment, shop our puzzles and see the many options from preschool tray puzzles to 500 piece challenges.
If you are interested in books of brain teaser games we have them for grades two through high school. For classrooms or parties, try Teacher Created Resources books for middle school. For a fun family educational game to develop sharp minds, try Chinese Brain Twisters, from Wiley Publishers. When your kids keep coming back for more, try More Chinese Brain Twisters, by the same author.
For preschoolers, try memory match games. The kids love it, and sometimes they’re better than the adults. Great for developing picture recognition and matching skills, as well as (of course!) memory skills. For younger tots, try the Bee Tree Game, a cute game where players pull leaves from the “old oak tree” trying not to wake the sleeping bees!
We carry board game classics such as Monopoly, Scrabble, and Yahtzee and newer games such as “Settlers of Catan”. We also carry a variety of card games, from Go Fish! to the Clue card game. These fun and educational games will have your kids counting, strategizing, and practicing advanced vocabulary and are sure to build a close family camaraderie.
Board games are also a great way to have fun as a family. Family members have been known to manifest rare personality traits during game play. Get to know your family members by playing classic kids board games.
