Horizons Reading and Phonics
For grades K-2, Horizons Reading and Phonics is a phonetically based word-recognition and early reading program. With a strong emphasis on comprehension and language arts skills, this homeschool curriculum helps teach students to identify the name and sounds of each letter through picture association from the sequential alphabet story and reinforced by pictures and printing letter names. Filled with fundamental lessons, Horizons Reading and Phonics covers spelling, alphabetizing, rhyming, vocabulary development, sentence structure, phrases, and parts of speech. Fun, hands-on activities are included to help develop penmanship skills. The seven major themes covered are phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, text comprehension, spelling, and penmanship.
