Kansas Homeschool Groups and KS Homeschooling Support

Getting connected to the information you need and to other experienced homeschool parents can help build confidence for new homeschool parents. Since homeschool laws vary from state to state, we recommend contacting a homeschool group within your state. The links below provide you with some support groups in Kansas. Visit their websites or contact them for information. You can also see more details about Kansas homeschool laws.

Another great source for information is your local school district office. With the increased popularity of homeschooling across Kansas, it has become more common for the district superintendent to designate a staff member to assist homeschooling parents.

You can find more homeschool support under our 'Support' tab at the top of this page, including our free product catalog and free online learning sites for all core subjects. To find homeschool curriculum books and materials, just hold the mouse over the 'Shopping' tab. There you can shop by subject, by grade level, by brand and by product type.

Charity Home Education Support Services (CHESS)
Our goal is to assist home education parents as they strive to meet the educational needs of their children.  We offer the following support services to families who have already enrolled in our Academy, as well as those who have chosen not to enroll:
  • Curriculum Advising is available for parents who would like assistance in designing their child’s educational program for the school year.

  • Testing Services - Testing for reading readiness level. We currently also offer the California Achievement Test only to those enrolled in the Academy. We also offer checklists for a variety of needs and give referrals to trained professionals if necessary.
Christian Home Educators Confederation of Kansas
Christian Home Educators Confederation of Kansas (CHECK) is a Kansas state homeschool organization formed in 1991. It is an association of approximately 50 local support groups around the state of Kansas. CHECK's mission is to further the interests of private home education in Kansas by providing accurate, helpful information on home education; encouraging the creation, functioning and growth of local support groups; and advocating for home education in the state and federal legislatures and other relevant agencies and organizations.
Midwest Parent Educators
In the fall of 1986, a small group of 17 home schooling families gathered to pool its resources and to provide encouragement and fellowship for one another. This was the beginning of the Johnson County Parent Educators (JCPE). In late 2001, the JCPE membership voted to change the name of the organization to the Midwest Parent Educators (MPE). JCPE/MPE has experienced growth commensurate with that of the home schooling movement nationally. We serve home educators in the greater Kansas City metro area, including many from Wyandotte, Miami, and Douglas counties in Kansas and from counties in Kansas City, Missouri.
Montgomery County, Kansas Homeschoolers Association
Our purpose is to first and foremost glorify God in all we do. To encourage each other both in homeschooling and in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We make available activities to aid each other in our pursuit for excellence in homeschooling.
Teaching Effective Academics in Christian Homes (TEACH)
TEACH has provided support for Douglas County homeschoolers since 1988 including a newsletter, a resource center, annual academic testing, learning groups, selected junior and senior high school classes, e-mail announcements, a web page, field trips, help for new homeschoolers, academic contests, school pictures, an annual used curriculum sale, special events, and fellowship and encouragement. e-mail: teach@kansashomeschool.org. Though decidedly Christian in focus, TEACH is open to all home schooling families. TEACH's membership includes approximately 100 families.
Teaching Parents Association
We minister to South Central Kansas homeschool families. We are a volunteer organization. We are blessed to have a board comprised of many homeschool veterans which allows us to draw upon years of experience and be a resource to others.
