Kindergarten instruction is much more advanced that we as parents remember from our own kindergarten days. Today, kids do a lot more than have story time, nap time, and play time. They actually receive instruction on reading, writing, counting, and even using a personal computer. Instruction at home should include as much instruction in these core areas as the child is able and willing to grasp.
