This text begins thousands of years ago with Native Americans who lived throughout the Americas. It ends with a look at challenges facing America in the 21st century. The curriculum consists of 37 chapters divided into 9 units with chapter and unit review questions.
Each of the 37 chapters include a special one page biography of famous people from America's past. Students are required to keep a journal notebook in which they will complete various writing assignments in each chapter. At the end of each chapter, a summary of the main ideas is provided along with review exercises which include the following:
Vocabulary building "finish the sentence" exercise
Journal writing assignment
Comprehension check where students are asked to "finish the paragraph."
Critical Thinking exercise
